Ular Bronzeback

Ular Bronzeback is a surly dwarf with a sly dark humor. He’s from the Vordin Clan mines of the Dragonridge Mountains, and though he hasn’t said so you suspect he was exiled for some crime. To hear him talk he has been in numerous battles since he left the mines. It is worth noting though that when he describes his part in those battles, he is often hitting someone from behind or throwing a ranged weapon from a distance.

In the long seeming endless time drifting in the dinghy, Ular makes a number of suggestions you find distasteful. He quietly suggests that the wounded and ill be slain. Jarek makes a similar suggestion, but while Jarek’s motivation seems to be a wish to show mercy, Ular’s is a desire to conserve resources (food, water, etc…)

Ular is also the one to suggest cannibalism as an option when two of your companions die. He grumbles darkly when the rest of you respond with horror and instead push the bodies overboard. Later you can see him quietly chatting with each of the others – clearly trying to find out who will support his idea, even though the group as a whole has shut down the discussion.

Several times Ular’s temper and unwillingness to share time and resources with those who are weak almost starts a fight. He and Jarek almost come to blows, as do Ular and yourself. In each case Ular is willing to get nose to nose with someone, but backs down before actually swinging. In one instance you catch him surveying the group mentally to see if anyone will back him up during one confrontation, but no one seems willing to throw in with the dark dwarf. When you are forced to kill one of your shipmates because he goes mad, Ular stays well clear of the fight.

Ular is stout and broad of shoulder, although his posture is terrible. He hunches over giving his back a high roll and causing his short stubby neck to stork upward. The total effect makes it almost look like his head is growing out of his chest. He kept his beard trimmed short, about 2 inches in length, and his black unruly hair is tied back with a leather thong, which accents the irregular streak of white that grows from his widow’s peak. His hands are knobby and bulbous and his arms are thick, meaty, and simian.

Aside from rags Ular has a wickedly curved throwing hatchet which he plays with idly.
